Gelato and Sorbetto:
Gelato contains less air than regular ice cream, so it is intensely flavorful and has a smooth, velvety texture. Gelato is often lower in fat compared to regular ice cream, as it contains more milk and less cream. Learn more about the differences in our Gelato vs. Ice Cream vs. Sorbetto article.
Sorbetto is the Italian word for sorbet and is 100% dairy-free because it’s made with water, sugar and oftentimes includes fruit, fruit juice and/or fruit puree. Talenti’s Sorbettos are uniquely crafted to contain more of the good stuff like fresh fruit to create a rich, smooth, velvety texture – it’s almost hard to believe they’re 100% dairy-free.
Dietary Information and Ingredients:

You’re in luck. Most of our products are gluten-free. Just check the nutritional panel on your pint or quart, or go to the gluten-free section on our website to see all of our gluten-free options.
You’ve come to the right place. All Talenti products are OU-D kosher.
When creating our products, customer safety is our first and foremost priority. We do all we can to ensure no customer is affected by the six allergens we use in our plant – soy, tree nuts, peanuts, wheat, milk and eggs – however, we do not have separate production lines for our flavors containing these allergens. As such, Talenti follows a very rigorous Allergen Quality Control Plan for the storage and handling of these allergens to ensure that our product contains no unlabeled allergens.

Absolutely not! We believe in making gelato and sorbetto without high-fructose corn syrup. Sometimes it’s what’s not in our pints that make them Clearly Talenti.
We love our cows, and we love the people who eat what our cows make, so we make sure all of the dairy products used in Talenti are rBGH-free and sourced from humane farms.
Yes, any individual ingredients we use like milk, cream and eggs are pasteurized, as is the final product that’s on your spoon. Products are pasteurized in the beginning stages of production and are safe for everyone to enjoy.
Palm oil is not a key ingredient in our gelato, but we sometimes use chunks or pieces (such as baked goods) that are made with palm oil sourced from Indonesia or Malaysia. Our parent company, Unilever, is committed to providing a greater level of detail and transparency as to where the palm oil contained in our products is sourced and who supplies it. Our goal is to eliminate deforestation from our supply chains and reach 100% physically certified sustainable palm oil by 2019. Read more about the Unilever palm oil policy given here.
Dextrose keeps your gelato cold and smooth. Our gelatos contain non-GMO sourced dextrose derived from corn to lower the freezing point and to maintain the smooth velvety texture of our gelato during transport from our gelato factory to your local store.
Most of the natural flavors included in Talenti products are comprised of ingredients such as fruit juices, fruit concentrates, essential oils, and extracts, but they vary by flavor. Most of the exact ingredients are considered to be proprietary information by our vendor-partners, but meet the FDA’s definition of natural flavor which contain no allergens or unnatural ingredients. If any allergens are present, it will be labeled in the ingredient statement on the product.
We do add vermouth to this flavor, but the alcohol is cooked off during the pasteurization process. The result is a sophisticated dark chocolate flavor with a hint of vermouth; one that doesn’t require an ID to eat.
Compared to a cup of coffee or a can of soda, our coffee inspired gelatos contain very little caffeine. Our Cold Brew Sorbetto contains between 39-84 mg per 2/3 cup serving, our Coffee Chocolate Chip Gelato contains between 43-91 mg per 2/3 cup serving, and our Coffee Cookie Crumble Gelato Layers contains between 14-29 mg per 2/3 cup serving.
Our Organic Ginger Matcha gelato has 12.59mg of caffeine per 2/3 cup serving.
Product Changes:
As devout fans have noticed, we have changed the name of our Vanilla Bean gelato over the past few years as our ingredient sourcing has changed. We started with Tahitian vanilla beans and are currently using Madagascan vanilla beans, which have a more bourbon-y flavor that we are obsessed with!
Starting in February 2020, we started sourcing our pistachios from California instead of Sicily and updated the name to reflect the change. We always look for the best ingredients for our gelato, and while we loved our Sicilian pistachios, they would often get delayed in transit to our factory in the U.S., causing delays in our production that led to delays in getting our gelato in stores and to you!
In 2016, the FDA announced an increase in serving size requirements from ½ cup to 2/3 cup. Because the amount of gelato in one serving size has increased, each serving size has more calories than before.
Starting in January 2019, Talenti removed the non-recyclable plastic bands around the lids of our products. This is an initiative that will reduce waste sent to the landfill, which is in accordance with Unilever’s Sustainable Living Plan goals. The product inside is the same with or without the plastic band, however, we’ve heard your feedback and we are in the process of exploring alternative bands, so stay tuned!
In the meantime, all of our manufacturing and packaging operations are conducted in accordance with the Food and Drug (FDA) requirements and all products are inspected throughout the manufacturing and filling processes, and securely stored and transported to ensure they reach consumers safely, and in optimal condition.

We have four seasonal flavors: Pumpkin Pie, Old World Eggnog, Peppermint Bark and Vanilla Chai. They are available only from September – December each year. Please note that availability of each flavor may vary by store. You can use our product locator to find the closest seasonal pint to you.
Our rotational flavors are part of our special batch recipes, which means they have limited availability in stores. When it’s sold out, a new flavor will replace it. Typically you can find our three rotational flavors on the following schedule: Almond Butter & Honey (Jan – April), Key Lime Pie (May – Aug) and Caramel Apple Pie (Sept – Dec). Please note that availability of each flavor may vary by store and sometimes, if you get lucky, you may find one of the rotational flavors outside of its availability window!

The USDA has a set of standards that any product must meet in order to be considered USDA Organic certified. We’ve used a third party called International Certifications Inc., which is a USDA-accredited third party to verify that our 4 organic SKUs meet the requirements outlined by the USDA. Our organic products are non-GMO, made with at least 95% certified organic ingredients. You can learn more about USDA Organic Certification here.
Sometimes, during distribution or in the store, a pint may have a chance to thaw and then refreeze, causing its ingredients to separate, become gritty, or develop freezer burn and ice crystals. While we maintain strict temperature control of the products, once it leaves our facility we do not have control over the care of how the product is handled.
Absolutely! Talenti’s jars are fully recyclable – just be sure to rinse the jar and screw the lid on first. We also recommend reusing your Talenti jar before recycling just remember that the jars are not microwave or dishwasher safe! #Pintcycling
